Hi everyone! We’ve been kind of busy this past week with the La Carlota branch2.AA We have been assigned to 6 branches to help them and the missionaries in each branch. We came up with a game plan of devoting one week to each branch. We started with Moises Pavilla group on April 26.The members in this area have been working on becoming a branch for 2 years. They finally reached the requirements and will be made a branch tomorrow May 17. April 26 we went to their sacrament meeting and Sunday school. These are the meetings they whole as a group.( I just got thinking maybe they should stay as a group and only have 2 hour meetings) They really are missing out on a lot as a group. They don’t have the manual they need to teach, supplies ,leadership, etc. We ended up both speaking in sacrament mt. After the meetings were over we had everyone stay and we planned a movie afternoon for the following sat. They had a convert baptism at 10am so it worked out for us to get two things done on the same day. The baptism ended up being in La Castellana because the river was too muddy. The lady and her husband were taking the lessons. He hasn’t given up smoking yet so has to wait. Steve gave a very good talk after the baptism. He really spoke to the husband. They stayed for the movies. We watched “Restoration” and “Johnny Lingo”. They really enjoyed both.. Restoration was in Tagalog. We took some of the members home that lived far away. Moises Padilla was about a 1 hour drive on rough roads from our home yard. During this same week we had the experience of getting our drivers license, having an all Filipino meal the Elders cooked, went to youth conference two nights, Bacolod three trips ( a one hour trip one way on rough roads), the last trip in was for transfers. That was an experience to see the mission office at work. It is a lot of work to manage 201 missionaries (162 Elders,33 Sisters, & 3 Couples). May 3 we went to church at the San Enrique Branch. I wrote about going there in an earlier email . How we had FHE and then went out with the missionaries. Sat of this week we went to a part member family and showed the “Restoration” DVD. The wife is planning on getting baptized May 30. This also is the family with the sick baby that Steve helped give a blessing to. Baby is doing much better. May 10 we went to the La Carlota Branch 2 for Mother’s Day . Monday night we had FHE at our house. It was fun. We had a hymn, scripture, lesson, and watched a DVD. The members and Elders are really excited we brought the DVD’s that we did. My family has sent some more the people have requested. We have district meeting every Tuesday with anywhere from 14 – 18 Elders. We had a little birthday party for me and one of the Elder who’s birthday is May 15 after the meeting. Haven’t been very good about keeping the bedtime guidelines this week( Senior couples bedtimes can vary from Elders). We have been trying to do Mother’s Day calls. When it is daytime here it is nighttime in Utah-Co, so we have been calling after midnight here. Went with the Youth to Guintubdan Falls about a 45 minute drive from our house . It was an overnighter. We hadn’t planned on staying overnight when we left for the outing, so we didn’t take stuff.. The members really wanted us to stay so we asked the place if they had any rooms we could stay in. They had a room close by where the youth were staying for 400 pesos($8.33), so we rented it. This is what the room consisted of: 3 wooden frame twin beds & mattress(skinny) with a small pillow, two sheets, toilet without lid and does not flush, bucket with a plastic pan to dump water in toilet , tap that drips water into bucket constantly, sink with no running water, no toilet paper, no towels or washcloths, 5 small LIZARDS, Not sure how many large Moths,Large spider outside the door. They had swept the floor & changed the sheets( they were stained). We were right next to a large game farm were they raise Cock Roosters. Can you guess what we heard most of the day & night? Members said they like to come up to this area to get away from the heat and for peace(?). The falls were beautiful and a lot of fun. I think they said it was over 300 steps down to the fall. We had a fish, rice, & egg mixture dinner on banana leaves. I’ll write next week. Luv E&S Adams 1Guintubdan Falls area,2 dinner on banana leaves 3 Game farm, pictures of falls coming soon to facebook
